Heather's Views:
All the World's a Stage

Dear Ones,

Shakespeare wrote, "All the world's a stage/and all the men and women merely players." Although this worldview may make our lives seem insignificant, it does not take into account who we are as spiritual beings or our personal responsibility for the parts we play in life. However, it raises an interesting question. Who are we in the movie of our lives? Are we the heroine or hero, the villain or the victim? Do we consider ourselves key to the drama or do we conside r ourselves "extras" in someone else's movie?

The theme for the month of March is All The World's A Stage. It is the time of our delicious and extraordinary Desserts Theater. Much of our attention is going towards the success of that performance whether or not we are members of the Celebration Choir. I thought we could all join in the fun by contemplating our various roles.

Ernest Holmes used a great deal of movie language to explain the Science of Mind. He writes that Spirit is the great actor, the only conscious actor that knows itself. This is our conscious thought. This is the thought we can choose. This actor is also the great director, for he or she decides on the theme, direction and type of role. She also gets to decide if she is the lead or a supporting role.

Dr. Holmes also says that the practitioner directs the Power and lets It work. He says, "We reproduce the Cosmos in our individual world. The Father is greater than the Son, yet the Father is the Son, and we are each other, and It is in all of us. So every day we are living from this Unity, and projecting our experiences from it upon the screen of our objective lives." (page 314, The Science of Mind)

The Soul of the Universe has the Power and the Intelligence to produce, but no choice as to what it produces. Dr. Jane Claypool says that this Law of Mind is like Central Casting. Whenever we have a belief about ourselves, we are calling the universe to send us the person who is especially well-trained to bring out that quality in us. Central Casting will send exactly the right person to help us see what role we are playing. You may have noticed that although a person leaves a job or a relationship, eventually they find the same kind of person whom they had just left. That is because the Law of Mind, central Casting, is responding to our beliefs not our wishes or fantasies.

Holmes wrote that the world has had enough of suffering. I agree. Let's decide to create inspirational roles that are filled with the greatness of Spirit, the joy of living and the warmth of loving. All the world's a stage and you have a starring Role!

Love,
Heather
